Life Path St Catherine’s Hospital in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal, is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Junior Registered Nurse (RN) to join its nursing team.
POSITION: Junior Registered Nurse (RN)
HOSPITAL: Life Path St Catherine’s Hospital
LOCATION: Pietermaritzburg, KZN
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide patient care in accordance with the Registered Nurse Scope of Practice and take responsibility for assigned nursing activities.
• Contribute to the holistic care and wellbeing of patients.
• Attend shift handovers and ensure continuity of care.
• Audit health records to ensure compliance with required standards.
• Communicate effectively with patients regarding their care and encourage participation in therapeutic activities.
• Monitor patient progress and provide appropriate support to patients, relatives and carers.
• Maintain positive professional relationships with patients, relatives and visitors.
• Follow infection prevention and control principles.
• Administer medication in accordance with SANC regulations.
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers and other healthcare professionals.
• Ensure stock is properly controlled, managed, charged and credited.
• Perform other duties as reasonably assigned by the Nursing Services Manager or senior staff.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Professional Nurse.
• New graduates or candidates with 1–2 years of experience are encouraged to apply.
• Previous work experience will be an advantage.
• Willingness to work flexible shifts, including day and night duty.
• Computer literacy will be an advantage.
• Good understanding of mental illness.
• Ability to maintain professional healthcare standards and comply with relevant legislation and accredited-body requirements.
